Cabotage Insurance – is it really required ?
Cabotage Insurance how the process works:
Insurance applies to domestic transport operations performed as cabotage and only to the transport that takes place within one country and is carried out by a foreign carrier. Insurance of that type is regulated by the national law of the country where the cabotage operation is performed, so International conventions are not applied here like CMR.
- The determination of liability takes place if the transport qualifies as legal cabotage and if the carrier is liable under national law. Compensation is paid only within national liability limits.
