How to feel secure during the full transport process
To understand how insurance works, we need to take a look at standard insurance policies and methods of how our goods are handled and secured. In EQTRANS, we combine a few types of insurance to be sure that your cargo is secured properly. We use a few methods to insure transport.
- The first one, and very often mandatory, is the so-called Carrier’s Liability Insurance. It offers very basic insurance coverage, and compensation is based on the weight of the goods, not their commercial value. It does not cover all risks.
- The second one that your non-vehicle operator should have is Freight Forwarder’s Liability Insurance. It covers the freight forwarder’s legal liability, not the physical transport. Liability arises from the forwarding contract, not transport conventions.
- The third one is Cargo Insurance, which covers the full commercial value of the cargo. But be aware — it is not mandatory. The customer should ask the forwarder who organises the transport about this insurance.
- The one very often forgotten in road transport is Cabotage Insurance (Domestic Transport Insurance), which covers transport operations within one country.
In EQTRANS, we can provide all four types of insurance on customer demand. Contact our team at dispo@eqtrans.eu or check our road transport calculator at www.eqtrans.eu to simply calculate the price.
