Operational Differences Between FTL, LTL, Express and Dedicated Transport
In transport, there is no single road — there are at least several, and we always strive to choose the best one for our client.
- Road transport, like any industry, offers several operational solutions. This means that a client may receive either premium services or more economical, budget-oriented options. At EQTRANS, we focus on the quality of the services and solutions we provide. We cooperate with the best carriers and drivers, ensuring constant supervision of the transport process and continuous contact with the driver during execution.
- At EQTRANS, we prioritize dedicated transports, specially organized to meet the client’s needs, ensuring that their shipment remains the top priority. Our second core service is express transport — time-critical shipments. These can be carried out as dedicated transports or consolidated with other cargo (so-called LTL – part load), provided that the express delivery is completed within the agreed timeframe. Another option is FTL (Full Truck Load), meaning a full-vehicle shipment — typically referring to heavy transport.
Summary
We can distinguish four operational types in road transport. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages:
- Dedicated Transport
This option includes the entire vehicle space, regardless of whether the cargo weighs 10 kg or 1,000 kg. The whole vehicle remains at the client’s disposal, allowing full control over the loading space. - Express Transport
In this case, the focus is on delivery time. The shipment may be carried out as a dedicated transport or consolidated with another client’s cargo that is not as urgent. - LTL Transport (Part Load)
The most economical option, but also the least predictable. It is cost-effective; however, it is more complex to organize, requires consolidation, and may be more time-consuming. - FTL Transport
A full truck load shipment covering the entire loading capacity in terms of volume and weight. Most commonly used for large-scale or heavy cargo.
